🎙️ How Did Cyprus End Up on the World Map of Animation?
A TY-CO conversation initiated by ABR, in collaboration with Netcast Zone’s Good Girls podcast (episode 94), shared here with English subtitles.
An animation festival that started in 2002 in a village of 80 people, built on instinct and friendship. Over 24 years it has moved through five communities, and each time the community adopted it as its own. In this episode of the Good Girls podcast, Animafest Cyprus founder Giorgos Tsangaris tells the story.
We are sharing it as part of TY-CO (Typologies of Community), our European project on how festivals and cultural communities grow and last. The original conversation is in Greek; this version has English subtitles.
What the conversation covers
How a chance meeting at a party put Cyprus on the world map of animation.
What it takes to build something that lasts 24 years on instinct and friendship, and how each host community made the festival its own.
